Covid's Internal Messaging

The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the way communications is practiced across big law in all ways around brand messaging and how employers are disbursing important information to staff and clients.

As staff looks to their employers to provide direction and important information, internal communication has become the epi center of survival.

Most law firms were prepared to some degree and had a crisis plan in place. Some did not. Either way the crisis would have to be adjust so it reflects the right tone for this unprecedented time and understanding what they need or want to know.

In this stressful environment, law firm leaders are the new sherrifs of the up and running virtual community with the majority of law firm employees working remotely and looking to their leaders to provide information.

Internal Communication
• Speak to the needs of the employees. This calls for a more emotional tone.
• Urge practice group and industry group leaders reach out to employees.
• Set up regular Zoom meetings and respond to employee questions and concerns as quickly as possible

Video is the most important social tool now. Digital meet-ups may become the norm. Adapt now so you aren't playing catch up later.
