Blog Post: Get to Know Lara Cupit

Through years of experience working in the PR and marketing industry, Lara Cupit has learned that reputation is everything. Cupit, who currently works at Elizabeth Lampert PR, has extensive PR and marketing experience in both corporate and legal settings.

Lara has found her reputation to be particularly important when working with reporters, which makes up a large part of her job at Elizabeth Lampert PR. “It’s all about establishing relationships and building trust. You want reporters to turn to you first because they know you’re responsive and can help them even on the shortest deadline. You also want to consistently bring them good story ideas they might not be considering,” says Cupit.

Each day begins with Cupit checking the news to see what is going on with every industry her clients cover. From there, Cupit works on crafting unique angles based on what she’s identified in the news and then reaches out to reporters to pitch these ideas. Having solid relationships with reporters is especially important in this aspect of Cupit’s job and is where her esteemed reputation and strong communication skills come in handy. She says her job is “truly a lot of communication back and forth with people you have often never met, but you feel like you know well!” Earning the respect and trust of reporters can make all the difference when she’s pitching ideas.

While Cupit’s job can definitely be challenging at times, her favorite part of her job is that she gets to work with people in such a wide array of industries. “It allows me to really be up to date on what is going on in a wide variety of areas. We work with everyone from entertainment attorneys to securities litigators, and that variety means our job is never boring!”
